Scholarship Programme
There are limited number of
scholarships and bursaries available each year under specific conditions
to encourage student development and help students of limited economic
resources. For further information and conditions contact Central Coast Conservatorium
Administration on 4324 7477.
Every year in term 3 our Scholarships are assessed and awarded on a competitive basis. In term 4
our fee relief scholarships are also allocated. Every year we try to
make the system as clear as possible, however, there are always a few
misunderstandings.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH CAREFULLY ESPECIALLY IF YOUR CHILD MAY BE ELIGIBLE IN 2010.
Every year the Central Coast Conservatorium makes available an amount of funds for fee
relief Scholarships and Bursaries. The funds come from 3 sources;
community donors; Dept./Education; and Central Coast Conservatorium funds where
Community donors have not yet been secured.
The funds are limited and therefore it is essential that they reach the
broadest base of students enrolled at the Con and ensure that students
are able to experience the widest range of activity at the lowest
possible cost.
It is also imperative that the infrastructure is transparent for both the Donors; Government and the Conservatorium itself.
Term 3; Competitive Scholarships; Forms are available from the office;
please read the Criteria carefully. These are for one/one students
currently enrolled in our programme;
WE RECOMMEND YOU APPLY FOR AN ASSESSMENT FOR THESE SCHOLASHIPS; ALTHOUGH
THERE IS ONLY ONE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED FOR JUNIOR & SENIOR IN EACH
DEPARTMENT IT IS A VALUABLE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU AND ALSO
PUTS YOU IN THE FRAME FOR POSSIBLE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES IN 2010.
Term 4; If you are a Year 6 student in our primary schools programme or
a Level 3 student in our Children's Music Programme you will receive
information of our special scholarships to help those students who wish
to move into our one/one programme. These are substantial scholarships
and have conditions attached to them so please read the criteria
carefully.
The scholarship fund is also used to subsidize some school programmes and first and second ensembles and bursaries.
BURSARIES: If your financial circumstances change you can apply for a
bursary. Forms are available from the office and the information you
give us will be in the strictest confidence. You will need a reference
from your child's Central Coast Conservatorium tutor. From experience we know that
some of you are reluctant to apply for your own reasons; although funds
are limited it could be enough to get you through a bad patch.
On a general note there are no any free lessons here at the
Central Coast Conservatorium or in any part of our programme; this is not our policy
it is merely an historical fact of music education in New South Wales.
If you have previously experienced any instrumental and or vocal
training (other than the occasional school choir or band) and not paid
for it you have been the recipient of a very fortunate accident.
Scholarships here can only be awarded on the basis of assisting those who are already committed.
The bottom line for the future of instrumental and vocal training is what value we will place on learning the skills involved .
All of us involved; students; parents and professionals will constantly
need to remind both the community and government that it plays a vital
part in the future of our society.
