Don Andrews - Head of Program previously the Artistic Director of the Conservatorium and is the head of Guitar Department. Ex Staff Musician ABC, Channel 7 Records and TV, author of many books on the guitar, composer of many film backgrounds, classical as well as Jazz. Has worked with many top musicians over the years from overseas as well as Australia.

Guy Strazz - holds MA (Hons) and Dip Jazz degrees from UWS and Sydney Conservatorium. He has studied in the US with Jazz luminaries Pat Martino, Charlie Banacos and Mike Stern (US); His studies also include Hindustani nusic with Pt. Ashok Roy (disciple of Ali Akbar Khan). His teaching experience spans 25 years at both secondary level (Sydney Grammar School) and universities such as Sydney, Macquarie and UWS. He is a recipient of the Australian Council for the Arts Music Fellowship and a Jazz APRA award winner for composition. Guy performs in Australia and internationally, having played at Perth and Adelaide Arts Festivals, the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Jazz and Adelaide International Guitar Festival 07, India Yatra Jazz, Jakarta Jazz, Clusone Jazz Italy and Japan World Expo 05.

Kim Cannan - Kim has a background of performing and teaching all styles of guitar. She has studied jazz through the Sydney Conservatorium, also classical guitar with Don Andrews and Gregory Pikler and Jazz studies through the Sydney Conservatorium. Kim has been a professional musician for over 20 years, conducted workshops and Masterclasses. She has released two instrumental CD’s, which contain original pieces, which have received airplay here and overseas.

Ashley Turner  - Double bass, Bass-guitar
Ashley has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Mus) from the City College of New York and an Asoc. Dip. in Jazz studies from Sydney Conservatorium. He has been awarded Australia Council Of The Arts grants for study in New York and for the production of his own CD, " Beautiful Open Spaces". Ashley is one of Sydney's most in demand jazz bassists and has worked with many of Australia's leading jazz artists including James Morrison, Vince Jones and Dale Barlow as well as backing mainstream artists such as Dave Hobson, Marina Pryor, Monica Trapaga and Renee Geyer. In 2001 Ashley moved to New York for six years and established himself in the city's competitive freelance scene. While there he studied extensively with jazz bass legend Ron Carter.


Steve Smillie - started playing the guitar at the age of 8. Played in bands from age 13 and has been ever since. Started teaching guitar in 1989 and the con in 2002. Has recorded 3 albums and is recording another in 2008.
