Youth Orchestra

The Youth Orchestra is approximately 40 strong and gives two major concerts per year on the Central Coast as well as tours when they can be arranged. Members of this orchestra graduate to the Central Coast Symphony Orchestra by  recommendation or audition. Past players have graduated to the Australian Youth Orchestra as a result of this training.

Entry is by assessment.
Woodwind minimum Grade 5
Brass minimum Grade 4/5
Percussion some  experience and reading necessary
Upper String Grade 6
Lower String Grade 4/5

Rehearsals: Friday 4.30-6.30pm

John Nottle  -Youth Orchestra Director
John studied orchestral conducting with Tsun Yeh Kirk Trevor and Jonathon Steinberg in The Czech Republic.  He was awarded a concert with the Kromeriz Chamber Orchestra, CZ, which has led to concerts with various Czech orchestras.  He has experience in conducting symphony orchestras, chamber orchestras, wind ensembles, brass bands and also in orchestral accompaniment with various instrumental and vocal soloists. Under the direction of John Nottle, the Brighton School Symphony Orchestra was awarded the 2006 Orchestras Australia School Orchestra Award.  Both the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Orchestra have won numerous South Australia and interstate school ensemble prizes.
