Brass Instruments TutorsPhillip Rutherford - Bachelor of Music, Newcastle Conservatorium, currently Conductor for Gosford City Brass Band, Central Coast Youth Band, performed in Central Coast Symphony Orchestra and Waratah Brass, Australia’s No. 1 brass band. Teaches brass and conducts in various schools across the Central Coast. Patricia O'Hearn - As a youngster, Tricia began playing the cornet with Waratah - Mayfield Brass Band (now known as Waratah Brass Newcastle). Tricia gained her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Newcastle (Conservatorium), studying under John Kellaway. She is currently undertaking postgraduate study in performance at Sydney Conservatorium. Tricia has achieved her AMusA on cornet and has been teaching trumpet/cornet and other brass for many years. In England, Tricia has studied with notable brass players, James Shepherd and Philip McCann. She has performed in concert with Ooysten Baardsvik, Jens Linderman and James Morrison. In 2002 Tricia won the Australian National Flugelhorn title. In 2008, she was selected as solo Flugelhorn of National Australia Brass under the directorship of David King. This included a recital at the International Festival of Brass in Melbourne in October 2008 and an invitation to perform again in 2009. They will also perform as part of the Gala concert at the Australian National Championships in Sydney at Easter. Tricia is currently a freelance trumpet player and trumpet tutor. She is Principal Trumpet with the Central Coast Symphony Orchestra, and a founding member of the Lakeside Brass Quintet. She enjoys the diversity of performing recitals with these and other ensembles including Waratah Brass. Ossie Jellyman - Have been the music co-ordinator at McGuire College, Shepparton, Victoria, for the past 5 years. He has a B.Mus from the University of New England, Armidale, and Dip. Ed. from Monash University in Melbourne. Mr Jellyman also has Licentiate Diplomas from the Australian Music Examinations Board and Trinity College, London, a Fellowship from the A.M.E.B, and continues to perform on trombone and euphonium at a high level in brass bands, orchestras, musical productions, solo concerts and competitions.
